Yesterday, I visited the book fair which
was hold in the university this week; I was shocked that the number of visitors
did not exceed the 10 students which is a very low number according to the
number of students present in the university. Also I spoke with the sale’s man,
they said that the sale decline about 10% year after year. This event
illustrate that books for students become forgotten and have no value and it
has dominated by the internet.
Plato said: A library of wisdom is more
than all wealth, and all things that are desirable cannot be compared to
it. Whoever, therefore claims to be
zealous of truth, of happiness, of wisdom, of knowledge must become a lover of
books.
A recent study published in the research
in social stratification and mobility journal highlights the importance of
books. According to the study, there is a direct correlation between how many
books are in the home and how many years of education a child will complete. Reading
books enables the mind to think over the objects of interest which enable a
person in making informed decisions. It is food for the soul. The more you read
the more you know. The content of books is
more credible and valid then the information published in the internet
Also books are inexpensive and readily
available nearly every where it can be your friend when you are alone. The
habit of reading good contents book’s daily will act like an exercise for your
mind and keep you mentally fit and flexible .If you have never given it a try,
then always remember that it’s never too late to start a good habit.
